Paule Mackrous is currently earning her doctoral degree in semiology at the Université du Québec à Montréal, focusing on presence effect. Her studies are directed towards emerging art forms on the Internet (computer arts, virtual worlds). She contributes to several contemporary art journals and is part of the editorial boards of .dpi, the StudioXX electronic journal, as well as Bleuorange, a literary journal of computer technology. She works as research assistant at Nt2, a computer technology research lab. For more than a year, she has been keeping a blog: “Effet de présence” with the goal of sharing reflections, references, and works about presence effect in art history.
